The first way is to have some time to be alone. I know it would hard right now to see your ex-girlfriend so have some time away from her and spend it alone. You can go on a vacation or just completely stop communicating with her. If you do, you’ll just remember the pain from a breakup and it would hard for you to cope after a breakup. If there are instances that you have to see your ex, then it would be better that you distant yourself from her.

The second way is to throw away or hide things that can remind you of your ex-girlfriend. Throw away old photographs or gifts from her. If you can’t do that then hide it in a place like a storage room or at the back of your closet. It would be hard cope after a breakup if there are some things that keep you reminding of your ex-girlfriend. If she has some stuff left at your home, mail it to her or have someone you trust give all the things back.

The third way is to surround yourself from people that you love like your friends and family. Spend more time with your buddies and do stuff with them like you always do when you were single. Spend more time with your family like visiting them on the weekends. Having a relationship before, may strain your time from them so it’s time to reconnect again. They may even help you give some good advice on how to cope after a breakup.

The fourth way is to do express your emotions the right way. Who said that men can’t cry? Let out all the emotions you have inside. Write them down in a journal or if you are a physically type of person, let your sadness out in the gym. Remember that it’s healthy to express your emotions just make sure that you don’t hurt yourself or other people when doing this.

The fifth and final way to cope after a breakup is to improve yourself. Do something that makes you happy that you can’t do before when you have a relationship. Or how about work harder to get that promotion at work? Or you could have a makeover. Do anything that can improve yourself and your self-esteem. This is important because not only you feel better about yourself you are also doing the first step of moving on with your life.

Remember that it takes time to cope with after a break up so have an open mind and patience to do all of this. Breakups are hard to cope because you still feel the pain. Deciding to do it is the first step of moving on from a breakup and into a new and better you.
