You’ve probably heard it before: You shouldn’t contact your ex after a breakup. Here I want to explain to you why this is such a powerful technique to get your ex back or help you recover from your breakup.
No Contact After Breakup? Are You Crazy!?
If you’re still in love with your ex you probably don’t like the very notion of a “no contact” rule. I’ll start by telling you that I was exactly the same at first. “If I cut off all contact, won’t she just give up on me and start dating someone else?” I thought.
Well, after I became so hopeless that I didn’t have any other choice, I tried it out and now I’m a firm believer in it.

No Contact After Breakup Is Torture
I won’t lie to you. It’s not going to be easy, especially if you are still hoping that the two of you can work things out and get back together.
Rest assured that “no contact” doesn’t mean that you won’t ever talk to them again. It just means that for a few weeks you’re going to take some time to cool off.
No Contact After Breakup – Why You Should Do It
After my girlfriend dumped me, my emotions were all over the place. I’d feel horrible one minute, then I’d feel hopeful about the future, and then I’d feel absolutely hopeless again. I was a wreck!
If you cut off all contact with your ex, you spare yourself the drama of saying something you’ll later regret during one of your emotional low-points.
During a 2 to 4 week “no contact” period, you can usually work through all of those messy emotions and start to feel better about yourself.
But, there is another benefit to not contacting your ex after a breakup. You will make them curious about you and you will make them miss you.
Even if they did dump you, they still do have feelings for you. You can’t just stop loving someone overnight. While you’re off on your own recovering from the breakup and working through your emotions, your ex will start to miss you and they might even come to realize that breaking up was a horrible mistake.
Don’t be surprised if your ex actually tries to contact you during this “no contact” phase. I know if you’re like me, and you just couldn’t get your ex to return your calls, this can seem like a miracle!
Tips on How to Do No Contact After Breakup
I know it can difficult to fight back those urges to call up your ex, so it helps to have a friend act as an accountability partner. Find someone you trust a lot and have them help you deal with your breakup. Tell them everything you’re feeling and commit to telling them everything you do. This will make you more likely to keep the “no contact rule.”
You can also reward yourself at the end of the “no contact” period. Is there something you like doing a lot? It might not seem like much, but you can use that as an incentive to keep with the “no contact rule.”
Deciding to do no contact after breakup is not an easy decision, but the benefits are really amazing. If you’ve really been struggling to make any progress with your ex, I strongly recommend you try this out.
